“Science belongs to everyone.”

Hello World_2024

Welcome to my blog!

As a graduate student in Biology, I will use this website to showcase my research as I progress in my career. It will also be a space to portray some of my favorite scientific topics through small snippets of text and illustrations.

Science belongs to everyone. A key principle of science is that the knowledge gained from scientific research should be shared. However, access to scientific knowledge, let alone becoming a scientist, has been historically restricted. For example, had Darwin not been born to a wealthy family, he may have never been capable of taking his famous voyage that landed him on the Galapagos Islands.

Science should be available to everyone, and everyone learns and understands concepts in different ways. As I spent my initial adulthood as an artist, I have a soft spot for charming graphics and animation that portray complex topics in an aesthetic manner. I’m especially interested in the natural history of earth and the Last Universal Common Ancestor (LUCA) to all terrestrial life, so these topics will pop up often.

Let me add a little about myself. I am currently a student at Temple University in the MS Biology program, and I work in the Biodiversity Center as a part of the Hedges Lab. Biology is an amazing subject that shapes every part of our lives-literally. I wasn’t always a biologist, though. I spent numerous years in healthcare as a trauma and community counselor who utilized art therapy techniques with clients. Bridging the gap between all of my interests has been my primary goal for the past three years, and I can’t wait to continue!
